The Sixth Sense

The Sixth Sense is a device that will give us the power to do things that we could have never imagined would be possible. Its main purpose is to connect our physical interactions with the digital world. Gestures made by your fingertips are used to connect with anything and everything on the internet. The Sixth Sense has a small projector, a camera, and a mirror that hang around your neck. The caps worn around your fingertips allow interaction with all of the components and the digital world. It costs about $350 to make one of these incredible devices. I wonder just how much it will cost to purchase one. This product is still in production but it is already getting a lot of publicity. Fox news even featured a story about it.

To list each and every capability of The Sixth Sense would take quite a while so I will just share some of them. You can take pictures, watch videos, play games, check ratings and reviews of books, determine which brand of a certain product would be the best purchase, use it as a phone on any surface, and even draw a circle where a watch would be on your wrist and see the time appear. Basically, anything you can imagine can be done with The Sixth Sense. Imagine being able to look at someone and have details about them projected onto their body. The camera picks up the image of the person and retrieves information about them from the internet. Think about this next time you meet someone new. On your way to the airport you can easily check the status of your flight. The camera picks up the image of your boarding pass and the projector tells you whether or not your flight is delayed or if the gate has changed. With this device the possibilities are truly endless!

This video does a great job of explaining many of the features that The Sixth Sense has to offer.

  1. This is crazy! Personally i don't see the need to have a phone that also has so many other purposes. the new smart phones are simply computers the size of a cell phone. But this puts a whole new spin on things and allows you to do more than you could with a computer.

  2. Absolutely nuts! I personally wouldn't want to own one, but without a doubt would love to use it. Technological advancements are getting more and more sci-fi. Good blog!

  3. As cool as this is, it seems to be completely unnecessary. People who purchase this would probably become so dependent on it that it would become more of them than a device.

  4. I agree that as cool as this seems it's just a little unnecessary. I think it's devices like this that make people way to dependent on technology and freak when they don't have it.

  6. I agree with Fletcher and Kylie, while this is a totally cool invention that I would love to try out, it is just one more piece of technology that the human race will become dependent on

  7. You wonder when technology will ever stop becoming so advanced. The idea of just using your fingertips to control your every movement on the internet is a wild concept. I feel like this type of technology will be especially benifical to people in the computer programing feild. It will allow them to do more work in a shorter period of time. This is an overall very interesting concept.

  9. This tech sort of reminds me of the Microsoft's Xbox 360 Kinect. The device captures your hand gestures and movements just like the Kinect. Since the 6th sense device uses a projector, i'm guessing that it wouldn't work so well in a bright day light right? But this is a interesting topic, I hope to see this device one day.

  10. Isabell,
You question how much it would be to purchase on of these objects. I believe the reason they state only the price to make the device is because the concept for the device and the software needed to run it has been Open Sourced. Open Source licensing means the knowledge under the pattent is open to the market, meaning any person can take the software or idea and improve upon it. Most often than not, Open Source software is free. The price is only for the materials needed to create the machine.

  11. And I thought we were addicted to technology now? Honestly, facebook takes away so much privacy already. I can't imagine never being disconnected. Everyone can see what you've been doing!
